Grants for developing research on and treatment for heart diseases in children<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The New Children\u2019s Hospital Foundation<\/strong> was established to support and promote research in paediatric medicine. The Foundation operates a modern children\u2019s hospital and promotes paediatric medical research, education and training nationwide.<\/p>\n

The Foundation operates the Children\u2019s Heart Disease Fund<\/em>, which supports research on and treatment of heart diseases in children in Finland. The fund\u2019s operations are based on a donation from the Finnish Heart Association. The fund provides annual grants for research on and treatment of heart diseases in children.<\/p>\n

The fund\u2019s grants are allocated to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. research and development projects at the New Children\u2019s Hospital, up to EUR\u00a050,000<\/li>\n
  2. projects related to paediatric and adult cardiac treatment pathways at national level, up to EUR\u00a010,000<\/li>\n
  3. travel and training grants for people treating children with heart diseases at children\u2019s hospitals in Finland, up to EUR\u00a01,000 for training in Finland, EUR\u00a03,000 in Europe and EUR\u00a05,000 in the USA.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Project funding is awarded to the hospital and the application (1 & 2) must include a summary of the project and the grounds for the project from the perspective of treating children with heart diseases, a realistic budget and a plan for how the money will be spent. The research project application must be accompanied by a research permit and an ethics committee statement. Furthermore, supervisor approval is required if the project involves a period of research leave.<\/p>\n

    Travel and training grants are awarded to cover the costs of attending scientific meetings, in-service training and skills courses for professionals treating children with heart diseases. The grant may cover the cost of attendance, travel and accommodation, but not daily allowances. The evaluation criteria will be the suitability of the training for the purpose and justified reasoning.<\/p>\n
