Founded in 2013, the Foundation was established on the basis of an initiative to replace the outdated children&#8217;s hospital building with a new one. An extraordinary nationwide fundraising campaign raised the initial capital for the new children&#8217;s hospital building, which allowed the construction of the modern hospital to get off to a fast start. The Foundation&#8217;s initial capital was donated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kulturfonden.fi\/\">Svenska kulturfonden<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/bmr.fi\/stadgar\/\">Brita Maria Renlund Memorial Foundation.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today, the Foundation focuses on developing the hospital building and the activities within its walls, so that child patients living in Finland receive the best possible care now and in the future.<\/p>\nThe New Children&#8217;s Hospital Foundation is one of the main partners of the HUS New Children&#8217;s Hospital, alongside the Association of Friends of the University Children&#8217;s Hospitals, HelsinkiMissio, Hospital Clowns and the Finnish Ronald McDonald House Charity Foundation. Together, we promote the overall well-being of the family when a child falls ill.<\/header>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tTasks of the Foundation\t<\/h2>\n<ol>\t<li>\n\t\t\t<aside> <p> Together with HUS and the wider network, we are developing the best children&#8217;s hospital in the world. The Foundation owns the hospital property and leases it to HUS. The general principles of the Convention apply to all of the Foundation&#8217;s activities. General principles include non-discrimination (Article 2), the best interests of the child (Article 3(1)), the child&#8217;s right to life, survival and development (Article 6) and the child&#8217;s right to have his or her views taken into account (Article 12).<\/p>\n<p>In its activities, the New Children&#8217;s Hospital Foundation complies with <a href=\"https:\/\/saatiotrahastot.fi\/resource\/hyva-saatiotapa\/\">good foundation practice<\/a>. In accordance with that practice, we act solely for the public good. We accept bequests and donations from individuals and corporations alike. Unfortunately, we cannot accept donations of goods from individuals. For more information, please visit our <a href=\"https:\/\/uudenlastensairaalantuki.fi\/en\/donate\/\">donation page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/uudenlastensairaalantuki.fi\/en\/donate\/\" target=\"_self\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tDonate to children and young people\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t<p>A donor can give a donation of more than EUR 100,000 euros to the New Children&#8217;s Hospital Foundation, in his or her will or deed of donation, by designating the assets to one of the Foundation&#8217;s funds and setting up a specific named fund under this fund. Guidelines for large donations and major gifts and bequests can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/18fZKIS6euyTa6H9bLH6pLPMqYeJ4aipd\/edit?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=117484054496432770830&amp;rtpof=true&amp;sd=true\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Foundation is a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vala.fi\/\">Finnish Fundraising Association (VaLa ry)<\/a>. The Foundation operates in accordance with the principles of <a href=\"https:\/\/saatiotrahastot.fi\/resource\/hyva-saatiotapa\/\">good foundation practice<\/a>. The Governing Board, elected at the Annual General Meeting, makes decisions in the New Children&#8217;s Hospital Foundation. The Board consists of six members and the Foundation&#8217;s Advisory Delegation consists of nine members. Both the Governing Board and the Delegation include a diverse range of members from varying professional backgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Jouni Lounasmaa, the Executive Director, is responsible for the Foundation&#8217;s operational management.
